RESEARCH
“DIE KULTHEXE” is an artistic, trinational research project (CH, AT, DE) that investigates ritual movement practices as embodied knowledge. The focus is on practices that were suppressed during the historical witch hunts (15th–18th centuries) — in particular, female-associated, communal, and resistant bodily rituals. At its core is the question of how the body can be understood as a living archive of marginalized rituals. As an artistic projection space for female bodily practice and collective memory, “DIE KULTHEXE” links ritual movement with socio-political reflection. Through somatic and choreographic methods, movement knowledge drawn from archives, field observations, and individual memory is reactivated and made tangible in contemporary dance.
"Starting in March 2026, we will launch an archive blog to accompany the research. Here, we will share texts, images, and videos from the process. The blog invites visitors to return regularly and actively follow the project’s development.”
On April 19, 2026, there will be a free performance in Teufelsmoor, Worpswede.
